2ND YEAR TRIP.....CHICAGO - NIAGARA FALL - BOSTON - NEW YORK - WASHINGTON D.C

1996 was my second year here in US. This year....our travel trip not by driving mode but we decided to take a train. During the spring break, Amtrak has a promotion for college students...."Unlimited stop for one region for one month"...ONLY $145. That was awesome....so this time, there are 10 of us....4 guys  & 6 ladies. We plan our trip very well....we make reservation for car in Canada....get a place to stay in Boston and Washington DC....but for for New York, we stay at our friend house there.

From Dekalb, we have to take  a bus to Chicago ....then from Chicago, the train travel 7 hours to Buffalo, Niagara Fall & once we reach Buffalo, we have to rent a car to travel to Niagara Fall. The beauty of Niagara Fall, it's located in US but to view the scenery, we have to enter Canada.

1ST YEAR TRIP....FLORIDA (PART 2)

Our next destination is Disney World.....it's like dream come true....i always wanted to be here to meet Mickey Mouse...Sleeping Beauty...Cinderella....Pluto.....hahahhaa.....just kidding. Most of us growing up with this cartoon characters....it's a part of our childhood life. Here in Disney World, we can meet all the cartoons characters ....people start to snap pictures with them.....well, me to....

Actually, in 1996.....digital camera does not exist yet....so, most of the picture capture using film. Most of the picture at Disney World still in our album and i just scan a few for my this blog.

1ST YEAR TRIP...FLORIDA

Universal Studio, Florida 1995.

Travel is a MUST for Malaysian students that study abroad and i didn't miss that opportunity while here in US. Our journey to Orlando, Florida took us 2 days driving from Dekalb to Orlando, Florida. We have cross 6 states...which is Illinois....Indiana...Kentucy...Tennessee....Georgia....Florida. It was awesome experience because through out the journey, the scenery is so beautiful. Once you reach Florida State, the weather is like Northern Thailand...which is monsoon weather...it's really feel like home, Malaysia.

Dekalb - Orlando

This is the travel map of our journey...from Dekalb travel south to Orlando, Florida. It's about 1100 miles which is 1760km......Well, it's a long way from home and finally we arrived in Orlando and we spend 2 weeks for our trip there.

Orlando was known for their Disney World....there's only one Disney World, the rest are Disneyland.

We went to Kennedy Space Centre, which is 56 miles from Orlando. It was awesome experience to see for NASA space shuttle since 1960's to 1990's. At that time...Apollo 13 movie was just launch and i did touch that Apollo 13 Capsules.

The next day, we drove to Sea World....guess what...we are going to see Shamu...the killer whale in "Free Willy" movie.

The next day.......we went to Universal Studios......the most current movie set at that time are...."Jurassic Park" & "Casper".......the rest of the ride are....Jaws....King Kong....Back to the future.....Earthquake.....

My dream to further study abroad finally come true.....I'm finally in US....As a newly married couple, we have spend 2 years of our honeymoon in Dekalb...

We went to Northern Illinois University....located in a small town known as Dekalb. It's one hour from Chicago and 45 min from Ohare International Airport. There is no shopping mall here....we only have Target, ALDI, Jewel and Wal-Mart. In 1995, we celebrate 100 years anniversary of Northern Illinois University...

Not much to say about Dekalb....but if u travel out of Dekalb...u can find a beautiful scenery of agricultural land. Illinois was known as America's agricultural land. If we refer back to history....you should recall this name..."Abraham Lincoln"...it all started here in Illinois. In US, Illinois is one of the poorest state ...this is because they really rely on agricultural.

I still remember when i 1st saw a strange kind of corn, they called it "Indian Corn". It's so colorful and it's not like corn that we have in Malaysia.

In September & October, we have apple picking day.....they have personal farm & orchard, that open to public....you can eat as many as you can but if you would like to take it back.... you have to pay $5 per bucket....it's a big bucket
